2026 NIRSC Hub Training: Hands-On Learning for Forage and Feed Analysis Professionals

Join the Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Consortium (NIRSC) for an intensive two-day training designed for professionals in the forage and feed analysis industry. Held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the Hub Training offers an immersive, hands-on experience focused on strengthening technical skills and advancing the use of NIRS technology in laboratory settings.

Participants will engage in expert-led lectures, interactive lab exercises, and breakout sessions tailored to specific instruments. Real-world forage and feed samples from member laboratories provide the foundation for practical instruction in sample handling, grinding, and scanning. Key topics include best practices for sample preparation, calibration validation, and effective use of NIRSC predictions for accurate nutritive analysis.

Sessions are led by industry experts and cover a range of essential topics:

  • Theory of NIRS and Instrumentation

  • Sample Handling and Preprocessing

  • Common Mistakes in Forage Analysis

  • Chemistry and Calibration Reporting

  • Instrument Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Attendees also receive one-on-one support during instrument-specific breakout sessions, delivered in collaboration with NIRSC’s instrument partners: Foss North America, Bruker, Blue Sun Scientific, and KPM Analytics - Unity.

Whether you're new to NIRS or looking to refine your techniques, this training opportunity equips you with the knowledge, hands-on skills, and professional connections needed to optimize NIRS application in your lab.
